ABOUT US

East Montgomery Montessori School is a not for profit institution.

East Montgomery Montessori School was founded in the fall of 2000 by a group of parents who sought to develop an alternative educational program in Montgomery. EMMS is an independent, nonprofit school offering programs for primary (3-6 year olds) and lower elementary (grades, 1-4). EMMS admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.

East Montgomery Montessori School offers a peaceful, dynamic, progressive and academically rich environment. The classrooms are prepared with Montessori materials in the areas of Math, Language, Practical Life, Sensorial, Sciences, Geography, History, and Culture.

The classrooms are mixed age groups allowing for natural social interaction between students. They younger students benefit from the mentoring of older students while older students develop their leadership capabilities along with compassion, confidence, character building, and sense of community.

Through the guidance of Montessori trained teachers, students become independent learners who are able to make astute decisions. These decisions fulfill their own developmental needs. Students experience unique freedoms in a controlled environment only found in Montessori classrooms.

East Montgomery Montessori School attracts students with various international backgrounds. We have hosted students from Denmark, Indonesia, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Brazil, Israel, Mexico, China, Korea, India, and Canada.

Music and Art

Music and Art are integrated into the everyday classroom, as we believe the Arts are an essential part of learning and life. Classical music is played during the day, students are exposed to instruments, rhythm, singing, learning tones with bells, etc. Elementary students attend an art class weekly. Primary students are constantly creating art with various media.
